Support for Nervous Patients at Welshmill Dental in Frome
If the idea of going to the dentist makes you anxious, you're not alone. At Welshmill Dental Practice in Frome, we’re experienced in supporting nervous and apprehensive patients with a kind, understanding approach. Whether you’ve had a bad experience in the past, feel embarrassed about your teeth, or suffer from dental phobia, we’re here to help without judgment.
Our team is trained to provide gentle, patient-focused care. We always take the time to listen to your concerns and explain treatments clearly, so you feel in control every step of the way. Many of our previously nervous patients are amazed at how calm and comfortable they feel in our care – and how pain-free modern dentistry really is.
We never rush or pressure you. Treatment plans are agreed together, and nothing will happen until you feel ready. And yes – if you need a hand to hold, our lovely nurses are always there for you (though they may ask you not to squeeze too hard!).
No matter how long it’s been since your last dental visit, we promise you’ll be treated with empathy and respect. We’ve seen it all – and we’re here to help, not judge. Let’s take the first step together.

I’m scared of the dentist – what should I do?
Let us know when booking that you’re nervous. We’ll take extra care to put you at ease, explain everything gently, and move at a pace you’re comfortable with.
Can I bring someone with me to the appointment?
Absolutely. If having a friend or family member with you helps, we encourage it.
Will I be forced to have treatment I’m not ready for?
Never. We will only proceed with treatment that you’ve fully agreed to, and we’ll always talk through your options first.
Is there anything I can do to prepare for my visit?
Yes – breathing techniques, calming music, or arriving a few minutes early can help. Let us know your preferences so we can support you better.
What if I haven’t seen a dentist in years?
That’s okay. We’re just glad you’ve taken the first step. We’ll never shame or judge – only support your journey to better oral health.
